Counter sales, phone hires, and collect and return, because you asked.

Most of what landed in September started as a shop telling us what their day needed. Sell a part to a walk-in without opening a job, take a hire over the phone and send the payment link, let customers book collect and return, and choose WhatsApp or email for each customer.

Sell to a walk-in without opening a job

A tube, a set of pads, a quick fix while they wait. Quick sale, under Front desk, takes the parts from your catalogue, adds a customer only if they want a receipt, and takes the money on a Square Terminal, the Square app, a QR payment link, or as cash or card on your own machine. Workshop stock comes down, the sale shows in your revenue as a counter sale, and it goes through to your POS.

Take a card on your Square Terminal from the counter computer

Card payments used to need the Square app on a phone. Pair your Terminal once in Integrations, press Send to Square Terminal on the job card from whatever device you're on, and the balance appears on the Terminal ready for the card. The payment lands back on the job.

Hires taken over the phone

Book a hire for the customer from New booking, then either take the money in the shop or hold the bikes while a payment link goes out, for 30 minutes, 2 hours or a day. Add delivery and collection, move the hire to new dates from the job card, and let the person booking sign the waiver for the whole group if that's how your shop works.

Improved

Groups where not every rider has an email

A booking for six rarely comes with six email addresses. Riders after the first can be marked "I don't have their email", and the person booking gets each rider's own waiver link to pass on, so everyone still signs as themselves.

Customers book collect and return themselves

Collect and return used to be something the shop set up after the call. Now it can be an option on your booking page, with your own collection windows, your service areas and your travel fee. When you set the day the bike comes back, the customer gets a text and an email saying so.

New

WhatsApp or email, for each customer

New booking has a WhatsApp tick and an Email tick, so a customer who lives on WhatsApp stops getting job emails as well. Quotes and payment links go on WhatsApp too, with a text if WhatsApp can't reach them.

Each bike answers its own questions

Two bikes on one booking each get the service questions, so you know which bike has the noisy brake. A question can also be set to "Only ask if...", and appears only when an earlier answer makes it relevant.

Tours with gear, dietary needs and a crew list

Each person on a tour can hire gear in their size and tell you what they eat. Put crew on each departure, then print a trip manifest with every person, their gear, dietary needs, waiver status, the crew, and a load list for the gear.

Under the hood

  • Delivered, awaiting payment

For the bike that has gone home before the money has come in. Shops can switch the stage on, and the board shows the job as it is: out of the shop, not yet paid.

  • Hire days apart from repair days

A mobile mechanic who fixes bikes two evenings a week can still rent bikes all weekend. Hire runs on its own days.

  • See what's free to hire on a day

Bookings has an Available view for hire shops: pick a day and see every bike and size, how many are free, and the morning and afternoon split for half-day hires. Handy when four people walk in wanting bikes.

  • The Bookings list keeps itself up to date

A booking made online during a busy morning shows up on the list within a minute, without a reload.

  • Other names on a customer

When a couple or a family share one email, add the second person's name from the job card and search finds them by it.

  • A real phone number and a street to drive to

The booking page asks for a real phone number and a street address, and staff get a heads-up when one they've typed doesn't look right.
