Quick sale: selling at the counter
Sell a tube, a lock or a while-you-wait fix to a walk-in without making a job, and take the money on a Square Terminal, the Square app, a QR code, or in cash.

Not every sale is a booking. For a walk-in buying a tube or getting a puncture fixed while they wait, open Front desk → Quick sale. The page opens straight onto a new sale. The Quick sale button on Quotes & invoices opens the same thing.
Making the sale
- 1Add what they are buying, the same way you add lines to a quote: search your catalogue or type a line. The sale saves as you go.
- 2If they want an emailed receipt, choose Add the customer (optional, for an emailed receipt) and enter their details. Otherwise skip it; the sale shows as Walk-in.
- 3Under Take payment, take the money one of the ways below.
Taking the money
- Send to Square Terminal puts the amount on your paired Terminal for the customer to tap or insert. Shown once you have paired a Terminal
- Take card in Square opens the Square app on your phone, with Square connected. It needs an iPhone or Android phone
- Pay on their phone instead (QR code) shows a code the customer scans to pay online. The sale shows as paid once they do
- Already taken the money? Enter the amount, pick Cash, Card, Transfer, Cheque or Other, and record it. Nothing is charged
You can take part of it one way and the rest another. Recording more than is owed is refused, so record the price and give the change. Once it is paid, New sale starts the next one.
After the sale
- A receipt goes to the customer's email if you added one and your shop sends receipts. It says Paid in store for card and cash taken at the counter
- Parts you track as workshop stock come off the shelf once the sale is paid in full
- Close the sale and the Quick sale page lists your recent ones, marked Paid, Not paid yet or Voided. Click one to open it again. Each also sits in the Quotes & invoices list with a Quick sale tag. Refunds made in Square or Stripe show on it
- Analytics counts it on the Revenue tab as Counter sales. It is not a booking, so it does not change your booking numbers
- If you use a point of sale, Send quick sales to my till (on by default) sends the paid sale over. A sale taken on your own Square is already in Square, so it is not sent twice
