Refer a friend

Give customers a code to share, reward the friend who uses it and the customer who sent them.

Customers → Referrals runs your refer-a-friend offer. With it on, every customer gets a shareable code and link after they book. A friend who uses it earns a reward; once that friend's booking is confirmed, the referrer earns theirs. It works on service bookings and bike hire.

Turning it on

  1. 1Tick Turn on refer a friend on the Refer a friend card.
  2. 2Set what the friend gets and what the referrer earns.
  3. 3Optionally set a Minimum booking to qualify and a Reward expires after in days. Blank means no minimum and no expiry.
  4. 4Save. The program cannot switch on until both rewards have a value and a perk has a name.

The reward types

  • The friend can get a discount on their booking (a percentage or a fixed amount), a named perk on their booking, store credit for their next visit, or a single-use code for next time
  • The referrer can earn store credit, which stacks and is applied automatically at their next checkout, a single-use discount code, or a named perk
  • A perk needs a name, which the customer sees ("Free chain wax"), plus a value for your records. Perks are yours to hand over, so they work for a coffee or a gift card too: when a referral converts, the referrer is told what they earned and you get an email naming who to send it to
  • Rewards spent later (store credit and single-use codes) carry Where it can be spent: Anywhere in the shop, Servicing and repairs only, or Bike hire only. Rewards taken off the booking being made have no such setting
  • Your signup link is the one link you share with everybody: receipts, emails, socials. It lands the customer in their Velobook account, where one click mints their own code and share link. See customer accounts across shops
  • Customer codes & links lists every customer with a code, most prolific first, with their code, their share link and a Copy link button
  • A customer's total shows as "3 referred" once anyone has used their code
  • A code is created the first time a customer is invited to refer, after their booking confirms, so the list starts empty and fills
Start modest

A minimum booking value keeps the offer off five-dollar jobs, and an expiry stops credit sitting on your books forever. Both are easier to relax later than to tighten.
