Pausing, approving and limiting bookings

Pause new bookings with one switch, hold each booking for your approval before anything fires, and decide when customers can move their own booking.

Last updated 2 September 2026

The Booking controls group at the top of Shop profile governs how bookings come in: a pause switch, an approval step, how far ahead customers can reach (booking horizon), and what customers can change afterwards.

Pause new bookings

  • The Taking bookings card is one switch. Flip it off and your booking page shows a "not taking new bookings" note instead of the picker.
  • Existing bookings, manage links and reschedules keep working.
  • The switch saves the moment you flip it. Flip it back on when ready.

Approve bookings before confirming

  • With Approve bookings before confirming on, a new online booking arrives as a request and waits for you.
  • Nothing is sent to the customer, nothing is held on your calendar and no reminders are lined up until you approve it from its card.
  • Off, every booking confirms the moment it comes in.

What customers can change themselves

  • The Changing a booking card sets how close to the day a customer can move their own booking, from Any time down to Up to a week before
  • And how often, from As often as they like down to Never, calls only
  • Anything they cannot do themselves sends them to you, with a message saying so
  • Their change screen is on the manage page linked from every confirmation
Community-day bookings are always shop-only

A customer's change screen can offer your shop's windows but not another community day, so a community-day booking always routes them to you.
