Planning a mobile day
Put the day's visits in a sensible order, start each mechanic from their own front door, and hand the run to the driver's phone.
Last updated 2 September 2026
The Routes page under Front desk takes the day's jobs, hire drop-offs and pick-ups, puts them in an order that makes sense on a map, and hands the run to whoever is driving. It appears once mobile servicing or hire delivery is switched on.
Route the day
- Pick a date and choose Route my day. Velobook orders the stops and draws them on the map, respecting the times you have promised customers.
- The Route settings page, also under Front desk, holds the shop-wide Shift: the hours a run is planned inside.
Where today starts
The Start control sets where today's run begins. It is a per-day choice.
- First stop: no fixed origin
- Depot: the shop's saved base
- My location: where your phone is right now
- My home: your saved address from Team
- Another address: a one-off start for today
Start each mechanic where they actually start
On the Team tab, open a person. Two things live there:
- Where their day starts: their home address. Routing starts their day there instead of at the shop. Leave it blank to start from the shop.
- Driving hours: their own start and end times, for someone on the road from seven to three while the shop runs nine to five. Leave blank to use the shop's shift.
A home address sets where the day begins, not where it ends. The last stop is wherever the last job is.
Routing a named crew
- The Crew chips on the Routes page pick which mechanics are out today
- Each drives their own run, from their own home address where they have one, on their own hours
- Picking a crew replaces the plain vehicle count
- The plan decides who takes which stop, so it can hand a job to a different mechanic than the one named on the job card
Clinic days in the middle of it
- A pop-up clinic session is a fixed anchor: routing plans around the hours you published
- Set Clinic buffer (mins) in Route settings for protected time either side, so no job is planned to finish at the exact minute a session starts
- It only widens the block routing reserves; the session times customers see do not change
Getting the run to the driver
- Each run has an Open run in Google Maps link for turn-by-turn navigation on the driver's phone
- Google's links carry a limited number of stops, so a long day is split into legs, each with its own link
- Send route to mobile gets the day onto a phone that is not the one you are looking at
Go live
- When the driver sets off, the Go live bar shares that device's location and sends each of today's mobile customers their own tracking link
- It also offers to mark the first stop En route, the same move as the On my way button on the job
- Sharing needs Velobook open on screen, and stops when you choose Stop sharing
- The two customer-facing switches behind this, the set-off message and the live map, live on job card setup
What the customer does
- On a shop that travels, the booking flow asks where before when: the customer gives their address, Velobook checks it against your areas, and only then shows the days you can get there
- Set the areas you cover under Catalogue → Services, on the Service areas tab
