Notifications for you and your staff

Push and email alerts that tell your team something happened. These never reach customers.

These go to your team, not your customers

Everything on Messaging → Notifications is an alert to the people who work at the shop. What customers receive is set in reminders: email and SMS, the Inbox and Announcements.

Settings here are yours, not the shop's. Each person picks what they want to hear about, and the push half is set per device on top.

Email me

The first card sends alerts to the email on your account. Three events, all on unless you turn them off:

  • New bookings: a customer books anything (a service, hire, tour, event, workshop or fitting). Sent to owners and admins.
  • Assigned to me: a booking is assigned to you as the mechanic.
  • Customer replies: a customer emails in. Answer straight from your own inbox.

Push, this device

  • Push is set up on every phone, tablet and browser separately, so the front-desk iPad and a mechanic's phone can differ
  • Choose Turn on notifications, allow the prompt, and the card confirms Notifications are on for this device
  • Choose what gets through opens the per-event list
  • New bookings: a customer books anything.
  • Quote approvals: a customer approves a quote you sent.
  • Cancellations: a customer cancels their booking.
  • Customer replies: a customer replies by SMS or email.
  • Assigned to me: a booking is assigned to you.
  • Parts arrived: a part a job was waiting on is received. Sent to the job's assigned mechanic.
  • Stock may be in: stock that could cover an ordered part shows up in your POS.

Every tick saves on the spot, with a brief Saved beside the label. Turn off on this device affects only the device you are on.

On an iPhone or iPad, install first

Safari only delivers push from an installed app. Tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, open Velobook from your home screen and come back to this page. Needs iOS 16.4 or later. See Velobook on your phone. If you have blocked notifications, the card tells you where to allow them again.

The bell, and the Activity view

  • Push is the interruption; the bell in the top bar is the record
  • Its badge counts open items that still need action, and clears when you resolve the thing, not when you glance at it
  • Opening the bell shows Needs action as tappable rows that take you to the right screen, with the rest of the day under Earlier
  • In the mobile app the same feed is the Activity view beside Conversations
  • A push that lands while the app is open appears as a banner at the top; tap it to jump straight to it
