How Velobook billing works

A dollar a booking (priced locally in each market), capped at about $100 a month, after a 30-day free trial. No monthly fee, no per-seat fee, no setup fee. Texting is billed separately.

Velobook bills one simple way: a dollar a booking, priced locally so it's 70c in the US, 50p in the UK, 60c in the Eurozone and the like, and capped at about $100 a month. After 100 bookings in a month, the rest are on us. There is no monthly platform fee, no per-seat fee, and no setup fee. You pay for the bookings you actually take. The one separate cost is text messaging, if you switch it on (see below).

The 30-day free trial

Your first 30 days are free. Bookings come through and work exactly as they will afterwards, they are simply not billed during the trial window. We capture a card at signup so that per-booking billing can start automatically the moment the trial ends, with nothing for you to do. See going live: from trial to billing.

What counts as a confirmed booking

  • A booking is confirmed, and counted, the moment a customer completes the booking flow. Each one is billed once, at your local per-booking rate, up to the monthly cap.
  • Cancellations are not billed. If a customer cancels, the charge for that booking is reversed, so you pay nothing.
  • No-shows are billed. The slot was held and the time reserved, so a no-show counts as a confirmed booking.
It scales with you

A quiet week costs almost nothing. A busy week costs a little more, but only because you took more work. There is no fixed bill waiting for you whether you book one job or a hundred.

Text messaging is billed separately

If you switch on SMS to text customers about their bookings, that is charged apart from the per-booking fee. Texting is prepaid: you top up a small balance in advance, and the price per message depends on your market and the kind of message (a standard text, a longer one that splits into parts, or a picture message). The exact rates for your shop are shown in your messaging settings before you turn anything on, and replies your customers send back cost a little too.

SMS is off until you turn it on, so if you do not text customers, you pay nothing for it. Your balance, top-up options, a monthly spending cap, optional auto top-up, and a full transaction history live under Messaging → Settings → Funds.

Customer payments are separate

Velobook's charges (the per-booking fee, plus any texting) are completely separate from what your customers pay you. Taking a deposit or payment at booking is optional, and when you do, the money settles directly to your shop. Velobook never holds customer funds. See taking payments at booking.

Where to see your charges

Your booking count and charges are visible under the Billing tab, and your messaging balance under Messaging → Settings → Funds. If anything ever looks off, email us and a real person will sort it out.
