Running a discount code
Create a code customers type at checkout, set it to a percentage or a fixed amount, choose which booking types it works on, and cap it by date or number of uses.

A discount code is a short string a customer types when they book: SUMMER20, WINTERTUNE. Create it under Catalogue → Discount codes. The code box only appears at checkout while you have a live code for that kind of booking.
Create a code
- 1Open Catalogue → Discount codes and hit New code.
- 2Type the code into Code. It is stored in capitals: 2 to 32 letters, numbers or dashes. Customers can type it in any case.
- 3Set Discount: a number, plus % off or a fixed amount off in your currency.
- 4Under Applies to, tick the booking types it works on: Services, Workshops, Fittings, Rentals, Tours, Events. All six are ticked by default.
- 5Optionally set Minimum spend, Max uses, and Starts / Ends dates.
- 6Use Internal note for where you are promoting it. Customers never see it.
- 7Leave Active ticked and hit Create code.
A code saved before your shop offered tours stays limited to what it was saved with. Open the code and tick the new type to include it.
Percent or a fixed amount
- A percent code takes that share off the booking; a fixed code takes that many dollars off
- A percent code cannot be over 100. Either way the discount is capped at the booking total: a $50 code on a $30 booking takes $30
- Percent discounts round to whole dollars
- By default the discount comes off the booking itself. On a code that applies to hire bookings, What it discounts offers The booking, The delivery fee only, or The booking and the delivery fee
- A delivery-fee code comes off the delivery charge and never more. It can be confined to particular areas with Only for deliveries to; a booking going anywhere else is refused the code, and shop pickups never qualify
- The mobile-servicing travel surcharge is never discounted
- Minimum spend is measured against the booking. Under the minimum the code stays applied but takes nothing off, and the customer is told "This code needs a booking of $X or more"
Limits and dates
- Max uses caps total uses across all customers. Blank means unlimited. The count is enforced when the booking is made, not in the browser.
- Starts and Ends are inclusive dates. Before the start a customer is told the code is not active yet; after the end, that it has expired.
- Untick Active to switch a code off without deleting it.
- Each code carries a status: Live, Scheduled, Expired, Fully redeemed or Off.
Changing a code's text, or deleting it, leaves bookings already made as they are. To stop a code right now, untick Active, which takes effect on the next attempt to use it.
Where redemptions show up
- Every code carries its own live tally. The summary line under each reads its value, the booking types it covers, any minimum, its dates, and how many times it has been used: used 3/50 with a limit, used 3 without
- A code that hits its cap flips to Fully redeemed and stops working
- The code shows on the booking itself, so when a customer queries a price you can see what it took off
- If you take money up front, the discount is applied before the amount charged is worked out: see taking deposits and payments at booking
With refer-a-friend on, the checkout field is labelled Discount or referral code. Whatever is typed is checked as a discount code first, then as a referral code.
