Message templates
Every automatic message Velobook sends, rewritten in your words and switched on or off per channel.

Messaging → Templates holds every automatic message Velobook sends for you. Each can be rewritten, and each has its own on/off switch for email and another for text. When they go out is covered in reminders: email and SMS.
Editing a template
- Templates are grouped into cards: Booking, Workshop status updates, Bike hire and Hire delivery updates
- Each row shows whether it has been customised and which channels are live
- Open a row and the email and its text sit on two tabs behind one Save
- Leave a field blank and Velobook's default copy is used
- Drop in variables such as `{{customerName}}`, `{{bookingTime}}` and `{{manageUrl}}`; the editor lists the ones each template supports
- Texts show a live count of 160-character parts as you type, because that is how texting is billed
Two templates are off until you turn them on
- Drop the bike in the day before, sent two days out, for shops whose booking date is the day the work happens rather than the day the bike arrives.
- It arrived with us, sent when a job moves to Arrived, for shops that take work in by post or courier.
Flip the switch on the row to start them.
The text lifecycle strip
- The strip at the top shows which stages of a booking text the customer, from Booking confirmation through Ready for pickup to Booking cancellation, with the hire lifecycle beside it for hire shops
- Click a stage to jump to that template's Text tab
- The tour-confirmation text has its own card further down
The Send scheduled emails switch at the top holds back reminders, review requests and service reminders for the whole shop when off, whatever the individual templates say. If one reminder never arrived, check this first. The Default service reminder interval sits beside it; see service reminders.
